In August of 1951, after graduating from St. Mary's High School, I entered St. Vincent de Paul Hotel Dieu School of Nursing, in El Paso,  Texas.  At that time it was affiliated with the University of Texas, (UTEP).  In my senior year, I attended St. Vincent de Paul for my psychiatric affiliation in New Orleans, La.  On return home, I worked at some local Albuquerque hospitals.  I
    In 1956, I married John E. Rutledge, USAF, stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, in Albuquerque.  We spent the first year of our marriage in Fairbanks, Alaska.  I worked at St. Joseph's Hospital while we were there. 
     We spent the next eight years in Columbia, S. Carolina, where I completed my education.  After graduation in 1960 from S. Carolina College for Nurses, I worked at a local hospital in Columbia and taught nursing for three years before returning to Albuquerque. 
     I have three children and four grandchildren.  My eldest is Carmen, born in 1962, has a son Ruben.  Our son Brian was born in 1966, and now has two girls, Miranda and Brianna.  My youngest is, Ann Marie born in 1969, has a daughter Katrina. 
     We returned to Albuquerque in 1964, due to my parents age and failing health.
      I worked at Lovelace for a year, 1965-1966.
      I started working at Presbyterian Hospital in 1966. 
      During my nursing career, I attended post graduate education courses at Columbia College Columbia S. Carolina,  University of Tennessee in Memphis,  University of Colorado, Denver, Colorado State in Fort Collins. 
       I belong to American Medical/Surgical Nurse Association, S. Carolina Registered Nurses Assn. ,  S. Carolina B.H. Alumni Assn. , New Mexico Registered Nurses Assn.,  Intra Venous Therapist Assn.,  New Mexico Chapter Hotel Dieu Nurses Assn. 
        After thirty years, I retired from Presbyterian Hospital in 1993. 
         I purchased a 20' G.M. self contained Recreational Vehicle, joined a local Good Sam of America traveling club,  and enjoy caravan trips from time to time, enjoy some yard work,  cooking and keeping up my home. 
         I enjoy life, family, friends, classmates, practice my catholic faith with this prayer, "Jesus, I want what you want for me. Amen". 

Therese - The Early Years
